May 29, 2018 (New York, NY) – Rapper, Producer, and actor Awkwafina reveals artwork for her debut EP digital release, “In Fina We Trust” via her own label Awkwafina Records and AWAL Recordings available Friday, June 1. The Queens native collaborated with Casi Moss – multifaceted designer, art director and photographer on the eclectic visual that dares interpretation.
Following in the footsteps of De La Soul, Kendrick Lamar, and Wu-Tang Clan the self-produced concept EP includes comedic skits showcasing Awkwafina’s effortless ability to make people laugh. Comedic songs on the project include the hilarious dating song “Ghost” and “Inner Thoughts” which is the result of what happens when you step into Awkwafina’s mind.
Awkwafina, a graduate of LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Queens, NY, isn’t new to the Hip Hop scene. As early as 2012, she released her independent debut mixtape, Yellow Ranger which included viral hits “My Vag” and “NYC Bitche$”. landeding her high profile blog placements and editorials from the likes of New York Magazine and The New York Times. Momentum from her rise in music amplified her television and film career including roles on MTV’s Girl Code, films Bad Rap, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, the Netflix Originals “Dude” and others.
This year, fans will see Awkwafina, in her most major roles to date, in two highly anticipated summer movies Crazy Rich Asians – a romantic comedy film based on Kevin Kwan’s novel of the same name, and Ocean’s 8, an all-female spin-off of Steven Soderbergh’s The Oceans Trilogy along with co-stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, and Rihanna.
