PRINCESS NOKIA: New Video & Mixtape From Acclaimed MC Out Now

Princess Nokia–New York rapper Destiny Frasqueri–released her highly anticipated new mixtape A Girl Cried Red today via Rough Trade Records. The self-described “emo mixtape” can be heard here, and follows her critically acclaimed 2017 rap opus 1992 Deluxe. The video for first singleYour Eyes Are Bleeding” was directed by Milah Libin and Frasqueri, and features footage from the last two years of touring behind 1992 Deluxe.
The shape-shifting emcee has been releasing music via YouTube and Soundcloud since she was in high school and catapulted herself to the next level with 1992 Deluxe-selling out venues across the globe and steadily gaining tens of millions of streams. A Girl Cried Red showcases another fully formed side of Destiny that still taps into the uncompromising feminist ideology of Princess Nokia, and will undoubtedly cement her place in the alternative underground as well as the hip-hop world.
The mixtape draws on influences as varied as the introverted acoustic sounds of Elliott Smith to the bombastic pop-punk energy of Paramore. Read more about the mixtape’s inspiration via Dazed and hear more about her influences and her ode to all things emo/pop/punk on her bi-weekly Beats 1 Radio show, Voices In My Headhttp://apple.co/princessaod.
Princess Nokia will head out on an international tour supporting A Girl Cried Red, including headline U.S. shows in New York, San Francisco, Chicago and more. She is also set for festival performances including Coachella this Sunday, April 15 and next Sunday, April 22. See all upcoming dates below.

2 Chainz joins DJ Premier & Royce 5’9″ on new track “FLIRT” – PRhyme 2 out 3/16

PRHYME AND 2 CHAINZ ADDRESS THE FLIRTING EPIDEMIC IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL AGE ON NEW TRACK “FLIRT”
ALBUM PRhyme 2 IS OUT MARCH 16
Today, PRhyme release “FLIRT” featuring 2 Chainz. The track features a signature beat from DJ Premier and sharp wordplay for Royce 5’9” with an unexpected sound from 2 Chainz. The new record is inspired by the lost art form of flirting. With the technological revolution transforming the way we communicate, human interaction has been drastically reduced and modern day flirtations have boiled down to “swipe left or swipe right.” At its core, “FLIRT” is about love, being free and being respectful, living in the moment and interacting with each other in real time.
PRhyme 2, the second collaborative album from DJ Premier and Royce 5’9” is out March 16 via PRhyme Records. Billboard says, “If it’s dope beats and dope rhymes that you are in search of, look no further than PRhyme 2.” “FLIRT” follows the recent releases of “ERA” featuring Dave East, called “hypnotic” by Rolling Stone and “ROCK IT,” called “a hard-hitting record with a classic Hip-Hop sound” from Hypebeast.

Hip Hop is an art form and culture that is constantly changing. Musically speaking, new technology and the latest trends have a very real influence on the records released from year to year. It’s easy to get caught up in the pop culture hype machine and triplet trap beats that currently dominate rap. Trends come and go, but the proven elements of Hip Hop music will continue to be relevant for years to come. For instance, MCs that spit ferocious bars over dusty, head-splitting beats will never go out of style. Enter Detroit’s Nolan The Ninja and his latest record, YEN. Released on DJ Soko’s imprint, Left of Center (LOC)YEN picks up where Nolan’s earlier projects left off.

Nolan, who has been gaining momentum in Detroit and elsewhere, continues to demonstrate his ability to rip a microphone. Underneath Nolan’s agile delivery is an element of storytelling that is sometimes lost in rap. From Nolan’s rhymes to guest appearances by Royce Da 5’9Blu, Add-2, Denmark Vessey and Quelle Chris, there is no shortage of heavy bars on YEN.

With stand out production from Black Milk, 14KT, Chanes, Denmark Vessey, Scud One and Nolan himself, YEN is 17 tracks of non-stop heat that creates the perfect backdrop for Nolan’s strong delivery.

Growing up, Nolan and his friends were accustomed to status symbols by default. The latest video release “Lex” is dedication to that. “We’re older now & realize our full potential to do great things while acquiring our childhood statuses in the midst. Triumph.” says Nolan.

Nolan The Ninja fresh teams up with fellow Detroiters Finale (who’s latest album with producer Oddisee) and DJ Soko to book for a European tour late spring/early summer 2018. Zoo Book Agency is now booking dates for Europe and the UK, for all promoters interested in bringing this tour to their city/country
